Privacy policy

Who we are
This policy explains how Silicon Infotech (“we”, “us”), the developer of the Gather app, collects, uses, shares and deletes your information. We are responsible for your personal data. Contact us at iamdrb.tech.3@gmail.com with any privacy question or request.
Information you give us
Account details: your name, email address and password (passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see them). If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. Your profile photo, if you add one. The photos and videos you upload, the groups and folders you create or join, the favourites you save, and any report you send us.
Information collected automatically
For each photo: its file name, type, size, pixel dimensions, the date it was taken and the camera make and model. We remove GPS location from photos before they are uploaded and never store where a photo was taken. For each phone you sign in on: a push notification token and a sign-in session record. Crash reports (device model, operating system version, app version and what the app was doing when it crashed) through Firebase Crashlytics. App integrity checks through Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity. Like any internet service, our providers receive your IP address when the app connects to them. To show ads, our ad provider also receives your device’s advertising ID (see Advertising below). We do not collect your contacts, your precise location or your browsing history.
How we use your information
To create and secure your account; to store your photos and videos and show them to the members of the groups you share them with; to send the notifications you choose (new photos, group activity, groups about to expire); to keep the service safe, review reports and prevent abuse; to fix crashes and improve reliability; and to answer you when you contact us. We rely on these legal bases: providing the service you asked for (our contract with you), our legitimate interest in keeping Gather safe and working, your consent for notifications (which you can withdraw in settings), your consent for personalised ads where the law requires it, and legal obligations. We also use information as described under Advertising to show ads that keep Gather free.
What we never do
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We never give your photos, videos, group names, names of members or anything else you share to advertisers, and we never use them to choose ads. We do not use your photos to train AI models, and we do not share them with anyone except the members of the groups you share them with and the service providers listed below.
Advertising
Gather shows ads from Google AdMob: in lists such as your groups and notifications, between days in a group, now and then at natural breaks such as after an upload, and when you choose to watch a reward ad. Ads never appear on top of your photos. To show, limit and measure ads and to prevent ad fraud, Google and its partners receive your device’s advertising ID, your IP address (which can indicate your approximate location), information about your device and the app, and how you interact with ads. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and some US states, we ask for your choice first using Google’s consent form, and you can change it at any time in Profile › Privacy & security › Ad privacy choices. Ads are limited to content suitable for teenagers. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or turn off personalised ads, in your phone’s settings (Settings › Google › Ads, or Settings › Privacy › Ads). When you watch a reward ad to the end, Google tells us so, together with your account ID, so we can unlock the reward. Who can see your content
Your name and profile photo are visible to people in the groups you belong to. Photos and videos are visible to the members of the group they are shared in. Group admins can remove members and delete content. Anyone with a group’s invite link, QR code or PIN can join it, so share them carefully. Each photo is stored at a long, random web address that cannot be guessed; if you or another member use Share to send that link outside Gather, anyone who has the link can open it.
Service providers
We use a few trusted providers who process data on our behalf and under contract: Google Firebase (sign-in, database, push notifications, crash reports and app integrity checks), Google AdMob (ads, see Advertising), Cloudflare (storage of photos and videos, and the services that handle uploads and notifications) and Google Fonts (the app’s typeface). Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States; these providers use safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people from harm, or if Gather is sold or merged (in which case this policy will still apply to your data).
Permissions
Camera: only when you scan a group’s QR code or take a profile photo. Photos and videos: Gather uses the system photo picker, which shares only the items you select; it never reads your whole gallery. Notifications: only if you allow them. Saving to your gallery: only when you tap Save to device. You can change these at any time in your phone’s settings.
How long we keep it
Your account, profile and content are kept for as long as you have an account. A photo or video is deleted when you or a group admin deletes it, or when its group is deleted. A group’s expiration date only stops new people joining; its content stays until it is deleted. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. Crash reports are deleted after 90 days. Reports are kept for as long as needed to review them and meet legal obligations. Deleted data may stay in our providers’ backups for up to 30 days.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile › Privacy & security › Delete account. Or email iamdrb.tech.3@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete it within 30 days. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, sign-in, profile photo, every photo and video you uploaded, the groups you created (with everything in them), and your memberships, favourites, notifications, devices and sessions. Photos other people uploaded to groups you joined stay with those groups.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our providers. Strict security rules limit access: only the members of a group can read its contents, and only you can change your account. Uploads are checked on our servers before they are stored. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you and the authorities about a breach where the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you can ask to access, correct, download, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent. You can do much of this yourself in the app; for anything else email iamdrb.tech.3@gmail.com and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Gather is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when Gather changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will tell you in the app before important changes take effect.
